ocs14 engage inc Microsoft Unveils Latest Version of Office Communications Server

Having been involved with Microsoft Office Communications Server in previous versions, LCS 2005, from a technical and user perspective it is exciting to see the evolution of this product.

There are plenty of software only commercial and open source products to choose from but none that integrate naturally with the Microsoft Office suite that most businesses already use. We have seen our own business embrace the idea of unified communications which makes it an easy sell to potential and existing customers and business partners. OCS 2007 R2 in its current state could easily replace a traditional PBX for many businesses on ease of use, functionality and reliability and this new version adds additional PBX functionality for those who have been holding out.

Microsoft has really placed an emphasis on social networking with OCS 14, and deeper integration with other products like SharePoint and Exchange. The client side is also further integrated with social networking services. Why does this matter? No matter what line of business we are involved in everyone in the company is really an agent of the sales force. In every aspect of communication we are representing and promoting our company, its products and services.
