At Engage, we have been doing a lot of Silverlight dashboards this past year within our xRM projects. A lot of Geospatial, routing and summary dashboards that allow you to view data from CRM and then click through the dashboard and back into CRM for more information. We are looking forward to some new features in Silverlight 4 and have listed them below:
- WCF RIA Services which provides enterprise class, middle tier services to query and update databases. It also provides support for client-side data validation, authentication and security roles.
- New Pivot control, coming out this summer, provides a great data visualization experience by letting users see thousands of items at once, and leveraging Deep Zoom technology, allows users and explore relationships among these thousands of items in a collection.
- Out of browser support – Desktop, Windows Phone 7.
- Drag and drop support from desktop to within the Silverlight application.
- Better printing support with the virtual print view feature.
- Right-click and mouse wheel scrolling support to conventional Windows desktop interaction models.
- Ability to integrate HTML within Silverlight to integration with web content.
- Popup notification support.
